NORTHRIDGE, CA Progressive Grocer, a leading trade magazine serving the grocery industry, awarded Pharmavite LLC this month the prestigious Category Captains Award for the vitamin and supplement category.
This year marks the seventh consecutive year that Pharmavite, the manufacturer and marketer of Nature Made® vitamins, minerals, herbs and other supplements and SOYJOY® nutrition bars, has received top recognition by Progressive Grocer for category excellence. This award comes only weeks after Pharmavite received the prominent 2009 Supermarket News Category Excellence Award.
Pharmavite was honored for increasing sales for the entire category; increases achieved in large part through the business building insights provided by Pharmavite Category Management. Nielson Scantrack data shows that vitamin category dollar sales increased 10.3 percent in those retailers where Pharmavite is the Category Advisor, versus a growth rate of 5.5 percent where Pharmavite is not the retailer Category Advisor. This translates to an 87 percent growth rate when Pharmavite is the Category Advisor. Pharmavite also was praised for differentiating Nature Made® projects in the vitamin category and effectively delivering insights and category management tools to retail partners to drive category sales.
“Winning the Progressive Grocer Captains Award for seven years is truly a wonderful achievement for our Pharmavite family and in particular our category management team, managed and directed by Scott Patricki” said Skip Aldridge, executive vice president and chief customer officer, Pharmavite. “It is such an honor to be repeatedly recognized as a global industry leader. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with food retailers and our customers to offer the most innovative, science-based vitamin and supplement offerings to meet consumer needs.”
The Progressive Grocer’s 14th Annual Category Captains Awards competition recognizes companies for their excellence in category management and outstanding contributions to the industry, including product innovation, creativity in marketing, commitment to meet consumer needs and ability to set the pace for leadership and vision.
