NORTHRIDGE, CALIF (June 22, 2012) – Pharmavite LLC, the maker of Nature Made® vitamins and dietary supplements, in partnership with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation (AANP Foundation), is pleased to announce the recipients of the Nature Made® Nutrition Awards. The awards recognize extraordinary work in one of the following areas: prescription drugs and nutrition depletion, obesity and malnutrition, and frequency of discussions with patients about the use of supplements.

The awards were presented to recipients by James Brooks, Ph.D., vice president, Science and Technology, Pharmavite at the annual AANP Foundation Honors Dinner in Orlando, Fla. on June 21, 2012.

“Nurse practitioners play an important role in educating patients on the importance of making healthful choices. Their influence on issues such as obesity, malnutrition and nutrient depletion is a key component to developing healthier patients,” said Brooks. “We are pleased to partner with the AANP Foundation on the Nutrition Awards and to extend our praise to nurse practitioners for their dedication to finding nutrition solutions.”

The 2012 Nature Made Nutrition Award winners are:

  • Frances M. Sahebzamani, Ph.D., ARNP, FAANP of Tampa, Fla.

Research shows that the quality of the American diet gets a failing grade. According to the Healthy Eating Index, adults (19+ years) rank 50 out of 100 on the quality of their diets. In addition to incorporating healthier food choices, dietary supplements can be helpful to meet nutrient shortfalls.
