Technical Engineer

Opelika, AL

The Technical Engineer is responsible for optimizing products and processes by establishing process capabilities, required controls, and ensuring adherence to standards through continuous verification. This role assists with site functional technical support across dosage formats as it relates to finding and implementing creative solutions that maximize value to our customers. The primary goal for this position will be to assist in implementing specifications and appropriate process guard rails to ensure we deliver a reliable and repeatable process to Operational teams.  

Key Responsibilities 

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include: 

  • Leverages data and an analytical mindset to draw insights on our products. 

  • Develops and executes qualification and change management activities across the manufacturing network. 

  • Designs and executes experiments in both a laboratory and manufacturing setting. 

  • Works across all dosage formats and packaging to develop a fundamental understanding of engineering principles and their applications across our product portfolio. 

  • Participates in focused improvement activities as prioritized through respective dosage format teams. 

Ideal Candidate Profile 

The ideal candidate is an engineer who is eager to learn multiple dosage forms, develop a foundation of engineering principles, and continuously improve existing processes within nutraceutical manufacturing. You will be successful in this role if you possess a continuous learning mindset, collaborative mentality, accountability for your own work, and an attention to detail.

  • Statistical understanding to establish appropriate specifications and process guard rails to ensure a reliable/repeatable process.

  • Leadership qualities to implement and champion change for assigned projects. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional groups to solve problems and influence internal and external groups. 

Capabilities & Skills Required 

In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have: 

  • Fundamental principles of unit operations pertaining to chemical process operations, manufacturing/packaging equipment, and processing/testing laboratory techniques. 

  • A firm foundation in chemistry, mathematics, pharmaceutics and/or food science. 

  • Solid foundation in oral and written communication skills. 

  • Results oriented and able to effectively organize and develop plans; prioritize and execute actions. 

  • The ability to make presentations and recommendations in assigned area. 

  • Use of hand-held data collection devices and instrumentation. 

  • 4-year college or university degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or another related science field.

Annual Pay

Annual Pay Range

$66,625.00 - $100,040.00

This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.  This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
