The Packaging Engineer is responsible for developing comprehensive packaging specifications and providing the technical experience for packaging leading to the commercialization of new products, as well as cost savings and packaging improvements on existing products.
Key Responsibilities
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
Plan and conduct packaging development projects for innovation, marketing, sales, and plant initiatives.
Collaborate with internal cross functional partners including procurement, marketing, innovation, sales, operations, and QA
Manage vendor performance to design new packaging and resolve quality issues.
Develop and write packaging specifications for managerial approval.
Research, develop, recommend, evaluate, and document packaging systems, materials, distribution systems, and packaging line equipment.
Design and coordinate laboratory and plant tests to assess technical feasibility and qualification of packages, materials, and vendors.
Independently run tests, collect data, interpret results, formulate conclusions, and make recommendations to management.

Basic working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (MS Project, Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook), TOPS, CAPE, and one or more drawing programs (AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar
Capabilities & Skills Required
In order to take on these challenges, you'll need to have:
Bachelor degree in Packaging Technology, Engineering, Material Science or related science degree.
6-month internship to 3 years of work experience in packaging design, development, and testing.
Experience with secondary packaging materials, labels, cartons, inserts, corrugated shippers, and sustainable packaging required.
Experience with CPG, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or medical device packaging, including manufacturing scale-up highly preferred.

National Target Base Pay Range: $72,000.00 - $120,000.00
The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $81,000.00 - $133,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.
Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, Medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K match, and other wellness benefits.
